Oil and gas industry executive Ken Fitzpatrick has been appointed as the Chair of the Federal Government’s new Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Growth Centre.

Federal Minister for Industry and Science Ian Macfarlane welcomed Mr Fitzpatrick’s appointment to the role at the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA) Conference and Exhibition 2015.

“Mr Fitzpatrick is ideally skilled to lead the development of the growth centre by engaging with key stakeholders to develop a proposal detailing the future work of the centre to boost the oil, gas and energy resources sectors,” Mr Macfarlane said.

Mr Fitzpatrick has previously held a number of directorships and has been involved in industry-related roles including as the Western Australian Chairman of APPEA.

Mr Fitzpatrick replaces Mr Reg Nelson, who is no longer available to take up the role due to work and personal commitments.

The Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Growth Centre will aim to guide businesses to lower costs through greater collaboration, better sharing of infrastructure and logistics support, especially on remote projects, greater development and uptake of new technology and innovation, and improved planning across all areas of the resources value chain.
