AWE posts new, impressive Waitsia flow rates

AWE's Perth Basin tight gas operations

AWE has flowed gas at 24.7 MMscf/d per day from the deeper High Cliff Sandstone at its Waitsia-1 well in the Perth Basin.

Flow rate through a 60/64 inch choke was constrained by testing equipment, so a higher flow rate is possible on production mode.

This is a significant result since the Highcliff has previously been seen as fairly tight, delivering only small flows.

The main target Kingia Sandstone is yet to be tested and StockAnalysis expects a flow of over 15 mmcuft per day from that zone.

Combined flow rates of over 40 mmcuft per day from this one well would be sufficient to kick off a significant gas business.

Along with Senecio-3 and Waitsia-2, AWE and Origin now have sufficient capacity for initial gas delivery, and while more wells will be required over a 20 year timeframe, no additional wells will be needed for at least a couple of years
