Incoming UE and MG CEO Tony Narvaez

Tony Narvaez will step into the role of CEO at DUET Group’s United Energy and Multinet Gas subsidiaries later this year.

A statement to the ASX earlier today states that Mr Narvaez will take over from current CEO Hugh Gleeson as of October 19.

Mr Narvaez has previously held roles at General Electric, ATCO Australia and Verve Energy.

Chairman of United Energy and Multinet Gas, Peter Lowe said the incoming CEO’s experience would see both companies through important periods.

“Tony’s arrival will coincide with the AER’s draft determination for United Energy for the 2016-20 regulatory period. Our proposal positions the business to continue delivering safe and reliable electricity to more than 650,000 customers, at the leading edge of efficiency in the country, according to the regulator’s own benchmarking analysis.”

“It is also an important time for Multinet Gas, with the business having recently reached a significant milestone in its pipeworks replacement program. Multinet gas will soon begin preparations and consulting for its next Gas Access Arrangement Review, due to commence in January 2018.”

The announcement comes after DUET Group on July 19 announced a $1 billion takeover bid of power generation firm, Energy Developments Limited.

EDL operates remote energy, LNG, CNG and landfill gas power generation sites across Australia, the US and Europe.

Outgoing CEO Hugh Gleeson announced his resignation from United Energy and Multinet Gas in April after 11 years in the role.
