In 2013, utility contractor Electrix began works on upgrading the 100-year-old low-pressure cast iron gas distribution network in the Adelaide CBD area and renewing the underground infrastructure to support medium to high-pressure mains.

Stage A is well advanced and thanks to Electrix’s performance and the quality of works to date, the company has just successfully tendered for works on Stage C.

This vital work will deliver the gas that will enable sustainable growth for the city, servicing residents and business well into the 21st century. Client APA Group has divided the city into stages to ensure a smooth transition for the residents of Adelaide, with completion expected in 2016.

Electrix provides gas maintenance and construction services on all equipment above and below the ground from the city gate station to the consumer’s property. The company has extensive experience in completing upgrade and greenfield works, as well as highly qualified staff and specialised equipment to undertake the associated live gas works.

Electrix also works on gas measurement systems and metering installations that control and measure the gas used in residential homes and commercial sites. Planned and corrective maintenance programs enable network owners to provide their customers with superior service levels.

This ‘main to flame’ approach is unique to the sector and is testament to the company’s capabilities.
