Cooper Energy has announced it aims to make a final investment decision on its Sole Gas Project by the third quarter of 2016

Cooper Energy and Santos are joint venture partners in the offshore Victoria Sole Gas Project.

The Sole Gas Project entered the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase in May 2015, following Cooper Energy’s acquisition of a 50 per cent interest in the Sole gas field and Orbost Gas Plant, Victoria, from Santos.

The project is a simple stand-alone field development, utilising the plant, with contingent resources of 211 PJ.

The Sole gas field is located 65 km from the Orbost Gas Plant, and 35 km from Cooper Energy’s Basker-Manta-Gummy (BMG) gas and liquids resource.

The Sole Gas Project is expected to comprise a single vertical subsea well and pipeline to the Orbost Gas Plant which is connected to Jemena’s 797 km, 450 mm Eastern Gas Pipeline, while the Orbost Gas Plant is currently processing gas from the Longtom gas field.
