The APPEA speaking schedule boasts a wealth of industry expertise, and Conference delegates will be spoiled for choice when making their Conference session timetable. Gas Today has included some of its speaker highlights below.
Speaking to the Conference’s theme ‘Energy for Generations’ during the opening session will be representatives from the Australian and Queensland governments and APPEA Executive Director Eric Streitberg.

Launching the business agenda, International Gas Union (IGU) President Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Hashim will deliver the IGU’s perspective on the new energy landscape. Later, Shell Upstream International Executive Vice President – Australia Anne Pickard will detail Australia’s role in meeting the global energy challenge.
Highlights of the business program will include Wood Mackenzie Head of Gas & Power Consulting Asia Pacific and Middle East Rajnish Goswami will outline the energy demands of South East Asia, and Deloitte Touche Tomahtsu Global Head of Oil & Gas Adi Karev will discuss the ‘great energy continental shift’.
AECOM’s Paul Travers will discuss the complexities of the intersection between energy development projects and Aboriginal cultural heritage during the community relations session, and Santos Chief Executive Officer David Knox will speculate over Australia’s next energy advantage.
A team from Woodside Energy are set to go in-depth about preparing for the Browse development, before the Conference concludes with a comprehensive project update from some of the biggest energy projects in the Australia Pacific region.

Who’s on show?
Spread over 5,000 square metres, the APPEA 2010 Exhibition will bring together more than 150 of the industry’s leading product and service providers, with the major companies and their executives showcasing their project and services expertise.
The exhibition runs across the entire four days of the Conference, allowing delegates plenty of opportunity to meet one-on-one with both established and potential business contacts.
Who’s having a good time?
Outside of Conference session times, you might find APPEA delegates abseiling at Kangaroo Point cliffs, kayaking down Brisbane River, sampling the local Hinterland cuisine or sharing cocktails, meals and industry anecdotes with colleagues at one of the many networking events.

It’s APPEA’s 50th birthday and everyone’s invited
APPEA is celebrating its 50th year with a birthday ball, which is expected to be the highlight of the social program. Over 1,000 guests are anticipated to attend to enjoy a three course dinner, fine wines, and world class entertainment.
