Santos has taken the opportunity to highlight the potential benefits of its plans for the region.

The company updated the NSW Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy Anthony Roberts on the proposed development, and to highlight the significant benefits the project can bring to the state.

“It was great to show the Minister around our field and highlight the high quality of our work,” General Manager of Energy NSW Peter Mitchley said.

“Our team does a fantastic job and I am always proud to show anyone our operations near Narrabri.”

The tour took in pilot gas wells at Dewhurst South on both state forest land and privately-owned land, Santos’ Wilga Park Power Station, a water monitoring bore and Santos’ Narrabri operations centre.

Santos is proposing to develop its CSG reserves in the Narrabri area in north-west NSW to provide a much needed source of natural gas for the state, although the project has effectively been put on hold due to policy uncertainties surrounding gas development in the state.

Meanwhile, an APA Group spokesperson recently confirmed the company has been in talks with Santos to develop a possible pipeline linking the Narrabri Gas Project to Tamworth.

The potential 200 km pipeline would connect Santos’ CSG reserves to APA Group’s existing pipeline infrastructure in the state.
