The pipeline will be built not only to accommodate the future needs of the Simplot factory, but the Ulverstone community as well.

Tasmanian Premier David Bartlett said “Supporting important infrastructure projects like this pipeline...[provides] long-term social, economic and environmental benefits for the whole region.”

If re-elected, Federal Labor would provide funding to convert the Simplot vegetable processing plant to more sustainable natural gas.

The project will cut the company’s energy bills by replacing coal boilers with a new natural gas-fired cogeneration system to produce both electricity and steam.
