Soon-to-be Beach Energy Managing Director Rob Cole.

Rob Cole will commence in the position of Managing Director of Beach Energy on 10 March 2015, three months earlier than previously announced.

Beach Energy announced towards the end of November last year that incumbent Managing Director Reg Nelson would give way to Mr Cole.

Mr Cole was originally scheduled to commence on 1 June 2015, subject to becoming available earlier. Mr Cole’s commitments have now changed to enable the earlier commencement date.

The incumbent, Reg Nelson, will cease as Managing Director and Director of Beach Energy on the same date.

Chairman of Beach Energy Glenn Davis said the Board is extremely pleased that Mr Cole has accepted the invitation to commence early.

“We are pleased that Rob is able to commence as the Managing Director of Beach three months ahead of his original start date,” Mr Davis said.

“Rob brings significant industry experience to Beach, particularly in the areas of strategy and corporate development. Rob’s leadership will be invaluable as we navigate through the current period of oil price volatility and position the company for long-term growth.

“We look forward to the next exciting chapter in Beach’s history,” he said.

Mr Cole has been at Woodside Petroleum Ltd since 2006, most recently in the capacity of Executive Director and Executive Vice President, Corporate and Commercial. He had extensive involvement in the company’s development across the entire value chain, from exploration to marketing.

Mr Cole also led strategy setting and execution, joint venture management and negotiation of Government and commercial agreements. Prior to his time at Woodside he had more than 21 years’ experience in corporate energy and resources law.

The Board also extended its deep gratitude to outgoing Managing Director, Reg Nelson, for his significant contribution to Beach.

“Over the past 23 years, Reg has proved visionary in his leadership and ability to transform Beach from a micro-cap explorer to an S&P/ASX 100 company. We wish Reg all the best for his future endeavours,” Mr Davis said.
