Shell to unveil safety plans for Prelude FLNG in 2016

Shell’s Gerry Dixon will be revealing details of the company’s safety strategies on the pioneering Prelude FLNG project at the Safety in Oil and Gas Conference in 2016, writes Conference Director, Michelle Oliveria.

The conference, now in its second year, will be held in Brisbane on 23 to 25 February 2016.

Shell’s pioneering Prelude and FLNG technology is playing a significant role in Australia’s LNG industry by creating employment and supply chain opportunities for the country. However, in order to ensure the safety of workers, the community and environment, new safety systems must be created and applied to these modern offshore facilities during its design, implementation and operation phases.

Mr Dixon is in charge of HSSE for the Prelude project and will give his insights from a safety leadership perspective on the organisational exposure to risks and the most efficient and critical process safety strategies to safeguard personnel and the environment.

He will be giving a presentation at the conference and provide all in attendance will have the opportunity to delve into the leading factors behind one of Australia’s most significant FLNG facilities as well as assess the newest technologies that enable fast and effective safety management on offshore facilities.

Through a step-by-step anatomy of Shell’s Prelude FLNG project, Mr Dixon will identify the critical concepts associated with safety leadership and safety culture.

Mr Dixon is one of many thought provoking speakers at the conference. Delegates will also have the opportunity to hear from the heads of leaders from Woodside, Arrow, Santos, Drillsearch, Thiess, Laing O’Rourke, Clough and WorleyParsons.

With over 25 speakers, 18 keynote presentations, two panel discussions and two full-day in-depth learning sessions for senior executives, this three-day event will bring together the best in the industry to develop offshore and onshore process safety strategies to control major accident risk and achieve ongoing organisational reliability.
