VALMEC has been awarded a facilities construction contract for APA Group’s 292 km Eastern Goldfields Gas Pipeline in Western Australia.

The scope of work for VALMEC’s contract comprises the supply, fabrication, installation, construction and testing of facilities for the pipeline.

“We are delighted to have received this latest contract award from APA Group on this strategic Western Australian project and are looking forward to continuing our strong working relationship,” VALMEC Managing Director Steve Dropulich said.

The pipeline is based around long-term agreements with AngloGold Ashanti Australia for the transportation of gas from Yarraloola to AngloGold’s Sunrise Dam and Tropicana gold mining operations.

When complete, APA will transport gas a total distance of 1,500 km to mining operations in the eastern Goldfields region through three of its interconnected pipelines – the Goldfields Gas Pipeline, the 84 km Murrin Murrin Lateral and the Eastern Goldfields Gas Pipeline.

Construction on the pipeline is scheduled to commence immediately and run through until November 2015.

First gas is planned for January 2016.
