FID follows last weeks environmental approval from Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke, and construction will commence immediately according to Chevron.

The foundation phase of the project will consist of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 MMt/a and a domestic gas plant. The environmental approval allows the project capacity to increase to 25 MMt/a.

The project is scheduled to commence production in 2016.

The project site is located in the Western Australian State Government’s Ashburton North Strategic Industrial Area, approximately 12 km south of Onslow on the Pilbara coast.
