Woodside Petroleum has temporarily shut down production at its Pluto LNG Plant in Western Australia.

The precautionary action was taken after a submersible drilling rig under contract to another party drifted near Pluto flowline.

Underwater inspections have since confirmed the integrity of the flowlines, while production will be restarted once the rig has been relocated away from Pluto infrastructure.

The Pluto LNG Project processes gas from the Pluto and Xena gas fields, located in the Carnarvon Basin, approximately 190 km north-west of Karratha.
